Benidorm, the Perfect Place For Summer Getaway

After two years of being cooped up at home because of the COVID-19 pandemic, I think it’s time to venture again into the real world. And since summer is almost here, well, at least on our part of the globe, I’m thinking of scoring a deal and taking advantage of available cheap Benidorm holidays. However, you’re probably thinking, why Benidorm? Well, why not?

This seaside resort on the eastern coast of Spain is home to the famous Levante and Poniente beaches. It is one of the most popular resorts in Costa Blanca. It is also packed with many tourist spots worth visiting and offers many activities worth trying. Going to this beautiful coast for vacation in the summer would be a complete package, especially if the kids are there to enjoy.

It is home to the famous Balcony of the Mediterranean, a pentagon-shaped peninsula with a unique design and a magnificent lamppost with five lights taking center stage. Sitting atop the blueness of the sea, the Balcony of the Mediterranean is considered an iconic part of Benidorm. That’s why it’s not surprising that it has piqued my interest from the first time I laid eyes on it after a full feature on one of my favorite websites. Here are some of the things you can do in Benidorm.

Play with the dolphins at Mundomar

Mundomar is a marine exotic animal park with a dolphinarium where kids can enjoy interacting with the dolphins. There are parrot shows that the whole family can enjoy. Kids and adults would enjoy seeing the flamingos, turtles, sea lions, and penguins up close. There is also a bat cave, a children’s park, and a galleon with an underwater view.

Visit Terra Natura

Terra Natura is a theme park for the whole family and all age groups. There, you will see the healthiest wild animals from the different regions of the world. You’ll see elephants, monkeys, tigers, hippopotamus, and more animals, which, although caged, are well-maintained in a really clean environment. You also need to be on the lookout for the Terra Natura mascots who are only too willing to take photos with you, like the toucan and elephant mascots. Kids will surely love feeding the animals themselves. They will also have fun riding the donkeys.

There is also a waterpark inside the Terra Natura, Aqua Natura. Here, you and your kids can cool down after your zoo outing. It boasts of the only water attraction that allows you to experience what it feels like to have zero gravity.

Be mesmerized by the Old Town and the Sandcastles

Benidorm’s Old Town might be relatively slow, but every inch of it screams Spanish. It encapsulates what Benidorm is all about—a place overflowing with the charm of old Spanish architecture that’s utterly irresistible. Make sure you seek out a pub or café where you can enjoy a cup of churros con chocolate before exploring the astonishing sand sculptures that are considered the beaches of Levante’s works of art. Your typical pail sandcastle is no match for the gigantic, majestic sandcastles boasting the most intricate designs.

 

Stroll in the parks or cool down at the waterparks

Stroll down the lanes of Parque de l’Aigüera, Benidorm’s biggest public park that carries a neoclassical style. It’s a stunning boundary marking the divide between the Old Town and the modern city.

What’s a summer vacation without some water time, right? It’s a good thing Benidorm has the Aqualandia waterpark where you and your kids can cool off from the scorching summer heat. You’ll find different pools and awesome slides, everything adventurous families look for in a waterpark. There are also several food joints where the family can grab a quick bite.

Plaza de la Hispanidad

Most popularly known as the Triangle Square, this is the heart and soul of Benidorm. It is a lively pedestrian plaza lined with palm trees, art installations, and cafes with al fresco seating. If you want to do some serious shopping or simply want to know what it’s like to be a Benidorm local, this is the place to be.

These are just some places to visit and fun things to do in Benidorm. You’ve spent the last two years locked up at home, so now it’s time to make up for the lost time. And where better to spend it than in Benidorm, where you can enjoy what nature has to offer to the fullest.
