Feel a lot cooler this summer season with hot bun hairstyles that also make you look cool in any outfit. The bun is one of summer’s hottest hairstyle that has been spotted in fashion runways, red carpet events, malls and beaches. It has even captured the fancy of celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, and Jessica Alba who wore varying versions of bun hairstyle. Women who would like to stay cool this summer without trading their long locks or sporting short hairstyles can try out different ways of wearing the bun.
There are three basic ways to wear a bun, high, low or on the side. And the most common things you need are bobby pins and hair tie, rarely you’d also need setting gel or hair spray.

High Bun Hairstyles
High buns are styled at the top of the head near the crown area. There are high buns that are literally perched on top of one’s head or placed in between the hairline and the crown. Elegant high buns like the one of Audrey Hepburn at Breakfast from Tiffany’s never go out of style.
Casual Bun Hairstyles
Casual buns can be worn effortlessly for everyday wear too. Miley Cyrus and Leona Lewis are two celebs that have gone with this hairdo during strolls in the mall. Low buns are those that are worn near the nape area, they can be styled in clean sleek buns or loose buns with a few tendrils out of place.
Side Bun Hairstyles
The side buns are quite popular with the young crowd. These are usually low buns that are swept to the side of the head, just behind the ear. There are a number of celebrities who opted for this hairstyle during red carpet events early this year. It is also a favorite hairstyle among teens in proms and other school events.
Haircare for Better Bun Haistyles
Before you pull off a hot bun hairstyle look, your hair needs to be in good condition. Use wide-toothed comb to lessen the damage to your hair. For some, newly washed and pampered hair would be better. For others, hair with a little texture works better. As always, use shampoo and conditioner that your hair trusts. To prevent dandruff it is best to use a shampoo or dry bar shampoo suited for you. Dandruff easily shows when you put your hair in a bun and you don’t really want that.
Use hair oils like avocado, coconut, almond whenever you have time off at home (which could be now because we spend a lot of time at home). Simply apply oil warmed on your hands to your hair, wrap your hair in a towel and leave for some time. Continue with your regular shampoo routine – the oil will minimize breakage from friction and also keep it moisturized.
Always get a trim or trim your hair if you know how to remove split ends. Split ends aren’t only sad to look at, it’s an indication that your hair is stressed. Trimming it off will make you’re hair healthier, and make it look healthier too.
Those who would like to explore the bun hairstyle can have fun in creating varying looks fit for casual to formal events. Buns that go high, low, or worked on the side can have clean and sleek looks that are similar to those worn by ballerinas. Women who would like to get a less formal look can try out loose buns styled using the hands instead of a comb to create a slightly dishevelled but stylish look. Regardless of the style you choose, these buns will definitely keep you cool and make you look cool during the warm summer season.

The bun is a very versatile hairdo, you can either look very polished and professional or slightly disheveled and casual. When you’re not sure just what to do wit your hair pull it up into a bun.

I like the second style better. Much more casual.I pull my hair back everyday in the hot weather. I just can’t bring myself to cut it.

Beautiful. I like to put my hair up in a bun but I look like a bowling pin because I have so much hair. My daughter’s hair is shorter. She has hair like the second frame shown. Great review…

I have always loved those low buns and wanted to recreate it for my wedding but during that time, we couldn’t afford a hairdresser and I had to do it myself. Suffice to say, it didn’t turn out as expected. But it was a beautiful day! Nevertheless, a nice messy bun is super elegant to me.

I have always relied on a bun for a quick fix on a frizzy day.

Oh, to have long hair again! When I was young I was a ballet dancer and always had my long hair in a bun…now with a bob I do occasionally wish I could do that again!

I wear a bun a lot in the summer. I love using the “sock bun”. When you take the sock bun down your hair has the “beachy curl” look. I love it!

I love to wear my hair up, I can’t stand it down unless I’m going out and need to look…. lol…. presentable. I wear my hair in the mess up do around the house most of the time. Every time I try to do a bun it turns out funny looking. At least I feel like it looks funny. That’s funny coming from someone who wears mess up dos. Maybe I’ll play with it a little more…. see what happens.
