What benefit does right food, good sleep, and exercise really do for us? Let's find out.

Summer’s here…not!

How bonkers could the weather get? Here I said earlier that  Spring sprung yet the past 2 weeks was like winter again...actually weirder with 0° in the morning and up til 16° at noon. I was already getting ready for summer yet I have to take out the the thick jackets again and prepare a coat in case it goes up until 18°. So this is a summer getup that will go well for spring too with skin-colored stockings and a coat...whattchatink? ...

Accidents can happen

Staying healthy is an aspiration that many of us have at some point in our lives, even if many people keep putting it off. However, many people know that the key to good health is eating the right food and doing regular exercise, but finding the time for those can be hard. Even visiting the gym just twice a week or a couple of hours of running or cycling will do, if you have the time. I’m a mom who works at home, and spend several hours a day sat in front of a PC. Not stretching my legs once in a while and eating the wrong food could seriously damage my health, which is scary. While staying fit can help to minimise the risk of injury, even the fittest person isn’t immune to the possibility ...

Kate’s Terrific Teal Gown at the Olympics Gala

Duchess Kate never fails to impress. At the London hotel Claridge, in her floor-length creamy white gown by Roland Mouret, she was a sight to behold...At the Friday gala, to show her support for the Olympic Games, the duchess was simply stunning in a teal Jenny Packham gown. She was wearing the same Jimmy Chooheals she wore with the white gown earlier this week...who says a duchess needs 3000 pairs of shoes if she can carry one with utmost regality, paired with a hundred dresses? The Duchess of Cambridge carried a matching teal clutch and wore her hair in a sophisticated chignon. Having her hair in a braided up ‘do -a move away from her usual loose hairstyle, was a good choice as it ...

Vampy Lips at the Met Ball

At the night of the Met Ball, many sported dark, rich, wine-stained lips. Kate Bosworth in her custom-made Prada mini-dress matched the look with a dark, vampy statement lip. Jessica Alba , Lana del Rey and Jessica Chastain added to their volume-y waves with dark, sultry lips. In Lana’s case she took the look one step up with matching long, curved, statement nails and gothic cape. Leighton Meester and Camilla Belle , both wearing sparkly metallic gowns, top their looks with dark, wine-hued lipstick.        ...

Vidal Sassoon, 84, dies

British hairdresser dubbed "a rock star, an artist, [and] a craftsman who 'changed the world with a pair of scissors,'" Vidal Sassoon died at his home in Los Angeles yesterday. Many celebrities, models and people in the industry were saddened by the news...John Barrett of the John Barrett Salon at Bergdorf Goodman said that Sassoon "was the creator of sensual hair. This was somebody who changed our industry entirely, not just from the point of view of cutting hair but actually turning it into a business. He was one of the first who had a product line bought out by a major corporation." Sassoon single-handedly built an empire with geometrical, angular takes on the classic bob haircut becoming ...

More at the Met Ball 2012

It is never boring to pick favorites from every red carpet event, here's mine from the recent Met Gala. Sofia's witty and funny antics make me so fond of her that I always look out for her during red carpet events...doesn't she look stunning in this peplum gray/silver dress? Gotta love that smile too! Scarlett Johansson wore a Dolce&Gabbana dress with Christian Louboutin heels and accessorized with a Judith Leiber clutch and Fred Leighton earrings. I would have loved her with an updo or a low chignon than a loose crown though. ‘The Vampire Diaries’ star Nina Dobrev was totally mesmerizing in a Donna Karan Atelier gown. The gown has asymmetric shoulder straps, super long train ...

Jessicas at The Met Gala 2012

The Costume Institute Ball, held yearly for the annual opening of the Metropolitan Museum (the Met) in New York is also a parade of beauty, gowns and fashion icons. For this post let's focus on the attendants all hailing the name Jessica. The 31-year-old mom of two rocked a one-shoulder Michael Kors gown with Roger Vivier‘s “Pilgrim Coeur” clutch and Wilfredo Rosado jewelry. Her vampy lips is one of the many at trend that night. Jessica Biel, 30, donned an ivory satin Prada dress adorned with jade green stones and Lorraine Schwartz earrings, while 31-year-old hubby-to-be Justin went for a Tom Ford tuxedo with a satin bow tie and leather boots. Jessica Chastain, arrived clad in a ...

Kate Middleton Wears White Roland Mouret Gown

While celebrities paraded themselves at the Met Gala, Duchess Kate decked out in a floor-length, long-sleeved, creamy white gown by Roland Mouret at the London hotel Claridge's with Prince William, to attend an exclusive Thirty Club dinner... It was the thigh-high slit showcasing one very slender leg, unlike Angelina Jolie's attempt earlier this year, that made the look. She was also wearing Jimmy Choo Vamp heels (costing £450). Kate finished off her evening look with a simple metallic clutch and a pair of drop earrings and topped it all with her simple blow-dried glossy brunette locks. ...

H&M’s eco-friendly Glamour Conscious Collection

High street chain H&M is truly friendly to the budget conscious fashionista.  Though at times they collaborate with famous fashion designers as Karl Lagerfeld, Versace and more, they would always bring something from these collaborations that the average salary-woman could afford. H&M is set to launch its eco-friendly Glamour Conscious Collection which as can be recalled included Michelle Williams black-ivory ensemble at the BAFTA awards. A design inspired by the dress will be available at the local stores. The collection is part of H&M’s goal to incorporate more sustainable fabrics into their apparel, an initiative that started in 2004 and has made buyers conscious of the ...

Elie Kemper at the Oscars

--- “Bridesmaids” star Elie Kemper totally shone at the red carpet at the 84th Annual Academy Awards in an Armani Privé gown - literally glittering! Ellie was a head-turner. The gold and topaz accessories from Lorraine Schwartz went well with the fiery strapless gown - look closely to see the embroidered sequins in shades of scarlet, rust and gold. This gown, which comes from the Fall/Winter 2010 haute couture collection, perfectly clung to Ellie's perfect silhouette. Her clutch, a gold-beaded Ferragamo is worth mentioning too. Even her hair in a lovely shade of brownish to match her dress is noticeable, would have loved it parted a bit or without the bangs but that would make her ...

Purple at the Oscars 2012

During Awards Nights when the celebrities go about flaunting their gowns, my favorite colors would be red, nude, pastel shades and of course, purple. This year's Oscars has a scarcity of purple in it so here are three (perhaps only them) --- with shades of or close to purple that stood out during the night. Sarah Hyland dons a flowing Alberta Feretti plum gown which featured a collected bodice ?n? asymmetrical straps. She wore the piece with ease and matched it with a loose, low bun ?n? bronze eye makeup that is simple but elegant. Maya Rudolph in a cap-sleeved purple gown by Johanna Johnson. The gown has a light mermaid silhouetted skirt and is noticeably beautiful with crystal ...

Futuristic, bizarre, entertaining, colorful and even animalistic were the designs showcased and admired at the couture shows in Paris Fashion Week. However, one designer who creates to excite and stir no-frills is Elie Saab (47) - with his timeless, beautiful evening gowns. As one of the last set, Elie Saab presented his haute couture collection. Most dresses were in pastel and had the design and feel typical for Elie Saab. The inspiration for this collection were accordingly fairy tales and princesses. -- Pink Fridays ...
